The National University of Singapore invites applications for research Assistant/Research Associate for the Singapore Gastric Cancer Consortium in the Department of Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The Singapore Gastric Cancer Consortium (SGCC) is a translational research group comprising clinicians and scientists working in gastric cancer research. The group aims to solve important clinical questions to improve the care of gastric cancer patients, facilitated by close interaction between clinicians and scientists, and with synergism that enables biologic discoveries in the laboratory to be validated in the clinical setting.

Appointments will be made on a 1 year contract with the possibility of extension.

Purpose of the post

This position will provide administrative and grant management support to the Singapore Gastric Cancer Consortium (SGCC) and its Principal Investigators (PIs). The role focuses on programme administration, grant coordination, project tracking, documentation, committee support and event organization.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Grant administration and budget coordination

Coordinate grant applications and post-award administrative matters, including account opening, budget tracking, budget variation requests, progress report coordination, research agreements and maintenance of grant records.

• Project and compliance coordination

Coordinate the administrative aspects of research and clinical projects, including collation of documents for ethics, regulatory and grant submissions, maintenance of project timelines and trackers, scheduling, and follow-up with internal and external stakeholders.

• Secretariat and documentation support

Provide secretariat support for committees and project meetings, including preparation of agendas, minutes, presentation materials, correspondence, records management.

• Event and meeting administration

Organize annual scientific meetings, workshops and other programme-related events, including programme coordination, logistics planning, vendor liaison, communications and on-site administrative support.

• General administrative support

Support the PIs and programme leadership in day-to-day administrative operations, procurement coordination, claims processing, report compilation and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Degree in biomedical science or public health with at least 2 years’ research experience

• Excellent writing and comprehension skills

• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint

• Basic manuscript preparation and statistical analysis skills

• Responsible team player, independent, meticulous and resourceful
