Responsibilities
The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Business Partner shall be responsible for leading the technical and commercial development of the software solutions business, from opportunity identification and solution design through negotiation, delivery and project closure.
1. Technology Strategy and Product Development
Define the technology roadmap, solution platforms and architecture modernisation strategy. Convert banking domain knowledge and project expertise into reusable, configurable software products with clear intellectual property ownership.
2. New Solution Design and Proposals
Lead requirements analysis, solution architecture, feasibility assessments and proof-of-concept activities. Prepare proposals covering scope, deliverables, implementation approach, resources, timelines, costs and customer value.
3. Business Opportunity Acquisition
Identify and pursue new opportunities, develop client and strategic partner relationships, and lead technical presentations, demonstrations and tender responses to secure business.
4. Commercial and Contract Negotiation
Lead or support negotiations on pricing, scope, payment milestones, acceptance criteria, intellectual property rights, support obligations and contractual responsibilities, within agreed approval authority.
5. Solution and Project Delivery
Oversee implementation, resource allocation, technical quality, security, testing and deployment. Manage project risks, dependencies, scope changes and client expectations to achieve agreed delivery commitments and profitability.
6. Project Closure and Commercial Completion
Secure client acceptance and completion acknowledgements, complete documentation and operational handover, and coordinate final invoicing and payment follow-up. Review project outcomes, lessons learned and reusable product components.
7. Ongoing Support and Business Growth
Establish reliable maintenance and support arrangements, drive product improvements, and develop opportunities for renewals, enhancements and wider adoption of the solutions.
Qualifications
1. Banking Domain Expertise
Proven experience in banking technology and solutions is mandatory, with strong knowledge of banking operations, transaction processing, integration requirements and delivery standards.
2. Technology Leadership
Demonstrated experience as a CTO, Solution Architect, Technical Director or equivalent senior technology leader, with responsibility for architecture, engineering teams and solution delivery.
3. Solution Architecture and Modernisation
Strong capability in designing secure, scalable and resilient solutions, including middleware, APIs, microservices, message transformation, workflow automation and legacy system modernisation.
4. Software Productisation
Proven ability to convert project-specific implementations into reusable, configurable software products, with sound practices for intellectual property ownership, documentation, version management and ongoing support.
5. Proposal and Business Development
Ability to identify business opportunities, engage clients, assess requirements and develop compelling solution proposals, demonstrations and proofs of concept.
6. Commercial and Negotiation Skills
Experience in solution costing, pricing, contract negotiation and defining scope, payment milestones, acceptance criteria and support commitments. Ability to balance customer requirements with business profitability.
7. End-to-End Delivery Experience
A successful track record of managing projects from requirements and design through development, testing, deployment, client acceptance, operational handover and project closure.
8. Governance and Quality Management
Strong understanding of secure development, access controls, audit trails, change management, testing, release governance and operational resilience within banking environments.
9. Leadership and Partnership Commitment
An entrepreneurial mindset, professional integrity and willingness to take ownership of business outcomes. Ability to build teams, collaborate with fellow business partners and contribute actively to long-term business growth.
10. Education and Professional Credentials
A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline is preferred. Equivalent substantial industry experience will also be considered; relevant professional certifications are advantageous.
