About the Role

The Legal Counsel will independently manage legal and compliance functions in Singapore, providing practical legal guidance to support business decisions and protect company interests. Reporting to the CFO, this role handles diverse legal matters and compliance programs.

Responsibilities

• Advise business units on corporate, commercial, employment, competition, intellectual property, privacy, litigation, anti-corruption, and consumer protection laws to ensure legal compliance and risk mitigation
• Draft, review, and negotiate agreements including NDAs, sales/distribution, service, and consulting contracts to secure favorable terms and protect company interests
• Manage legal and compliance process systems to maintain operational efficiency and regulatory adherence
• Oversee legal disputes and litigation by coordinating with external counsel to resolve issues effectively
• Provide clear, actionable legal advice to headquarters on various legal and compliance matters upon request
• Administer company compliance programs by conducting employee training, preparing educational materials, maintaining records, and liaising with HQ on regional/global requirements
• Update and implement business policies to align with Singapore laws and evolving legal developments
• Monitor legal trends and changes to proactively advise the company on potential impacts
• Act as the Data Protection Officer, managing data protection compliance and related responsibilities

Qualifications

• Law Degree (LL.B. or JD)
• Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in corporate/commercial law and contract negotiations
• Experience working in a law firm environment
• Ability to work independently while maintaining a highly collaborative approach across all organizational levels and functions.
• Proficiency in English
• Strong logical and analytical thinking applied to legal problem-solving
• Highly motivated with resourcefulness to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
