Market Analyst (Dry Bulk)

Role Overview

Responsible for analyzing dry bulk shipping markets, monitoring market trends and freight dynamics, and providing timely insights to support commercial and trading decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor dry bulk freight markets, vessel supply and demand, trade flows, and market developments.
• Analyze freight rates, vessel earnings, commodity flows, and key market indicators across major dry bulk segments.
• Track global developments affecting dry bulk commodities, including iron ore, coal, grain, and minor bulks.
• Prepare daily/weekly market reports, forecasts, and analysis for management and commercial teams.
• Develop and maintain market databases, models, and analytical tools.
• Provide market intelligence and insights to support chartering, trading, and investment decisions.
• Monitor competitor activity, fleet developments, port congestion, and other factors affecting freight markets.
• Liaise with brokers, shipowners, traders, and other market participants to gather market intelligence.

Requirements

• Degree in Economics, Finance, Maritime Studies, Shipping, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in dry bulk shipping, maritime research, chartering, brokerage, or market analysis.
• Strong understanding of dry bulk shipping markets and commodity trade flows.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Excel and data analysis; experience with shipping databases/tools is an advantage.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and deliver timely analysis in a fast-paced environment.
