Environmental Education & Urban Farming Executive (1-Year Contract / Part-Time)

ey Responsibilities:

• Green Space Maintenance: Provide day-to-day care, watering, and upkeep of school green spaces and urban farming facilities, including the library planter, urban grow towers, Ecogarden, and hydroponics systems.
• Horticultural Expertise: Offer expert input on plant care, including trimming, pruning, fertilizing, weeding, and organic pest/fungal management.
• Infrastructure Management: Perform routine inspections, execute minor repairs on farming facilities, maintain equipment inventories, and keep the urban farm clean to avoid drainage blockages.
• CCA Support (Environmental Club): Assist the Teacher-in-Charge by preparing equipment, guiding students through practical activities (germination, transplanting, harvesting), and managing sessions.
• Project Work Facilitation (Primary 4 & 5): Support environmental education lessons focused on Urban Farming and Hydroponics. Tasks include monitoring seedling health, troubleshooting hydroponic water/nutrient systems, and maintaining system temperatures using ice packs.

• Technical Knowledge: Minimal proficiency and skills in the following areas are mandatory:Plant trimming, pruning, and soil management.Irrigation system management.Safe application and handling of organic/chemical fertilizers and pesticides.Sowing, propagation, and cultivation of vegetables, fruits, and shrubs.Basic troubleshooting and operation of hydroponic setups.
• Preferred Experience: Prior experience providing gardening, landscaping, or urban farming services within a school setting.Prior experience engaging, working with, or supporting children in an educational environment.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication skills and the ability to patiently guide young students through hands-on practical tasks.

Work Schedule (20 Hours/Week)

• Mondays to Fridays: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
• Note: Services are not required on weekends and gazetted public holidays.
