Sing Hai Marine Engineering Pte Ltd is looking for a Ship Repair Engineer to support ship repair activities mainly at Singapore anchorage, with occasional assignments to ports or overseas locations.

The role involves attending vessels, assessing repair requirements, preparing work scopes and quotations, coordinating manpower and materials / contractors, and supervising ship repair activities to ensure that jobs are completed safely, efficiently and according to customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend vessels at Singapore anchorage to inspect and assess ship repair requirements.
  • Discuss repair requirements with the Master, Chief Engineer and vessel representatives.
  • Identify defects and recommend suitable repair solutions.
  • Prepare work scopes, manpower requirements, material requirements and quotations.
  • Plan and coordinate repair jobs with technicians, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Supervise repair works onboard vessels and monitor work progress.
  • Coordinate different repair activities such as piping, valves, pumps, steel works, welding, mechanical works and general ship maintenance.
  • Monitor job quality, safety, manpower and completion schedule.
  • Prepare service reports, job reports and completion documentation.
  • Communicate with vessel owners, ship managers, ship crews, and subcontractors.
  • Support the company in developing and maintaining ship repair customers.
  • Attend overseas vessels or projects when required.

Requirements

  • ITE or Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Relevant experience in ship repair, ship maintenance, marine engineering or vessel operations.
  • Experience in Singapore anchorage repair work is highly preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of shipboard repair works and marine equipment.
  • Able to inspect vessels and understand repair requirements.
  • Able to prepare work scopes and coordinate manpower, materials and subcontractors.
  • Good project coordination and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills and able to communicate with vessel crew and customers.
  • Able to work independently and take responsibility for assigned repair projects.
  • Willing to work onboard vessels and at Singapore anchorage, including outside normal working hours when required.
  • Willing to travel overseas for occasional repair assignments.
  • Singapore driving licence is an advantage.
