Field Service Engineer (Semiconductor)

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and independent Field Service Engineer / Field Application Engineer (FAE) to drive front-endsemiconductor equipment installation, commissioning, and complex field support across Singapore and regional customer sites.
You will be responsible for managing site installations independently, resolving complex equipment control system issues,performing advanced troubleshooting, and acting as a primary technical customer liaison. You will also provide mentorship and on-site guidance to junior engineers and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Operations& Field Leadership
· Equipment Installation & Commissioning: Independently execute start-up, installation, commissioning, and relocation of complex semiconductor equipment at customer Fabs.
· Advanced Maintenance & Process Troubleshooting: Perform high-level preventive/corrective maintenance, part replacements, and resolve yield-killing process issues (particles, thickness, uniformity) leveraging hardware and film expertise.
· Complex Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Lead diagnostic procedures for advanced equipment malfunctions to minimise tool downtime. Determine and execute corrective action plans independently.
· Issue Escalation & Resolution: Manage complex technical escalations, coordinating directly with factory R&D, application teams, or global engineering heads when assessing severe system failures.
· Sub-Contractor& Customer Guidance: Provide clear technical direction and on-siteinstruction to sub-contractors, customer technicians, and junior team members during tool set-up and site acceptance tests (SAT).
· Process Optimisation & DOE: Formulate and validate Design of Experiments (DOE) parameters to optimise semiconductor processes.
· Technical Currency: Continuously update expertise on new equipment generations, software upgrades, factory periodicals, and specialised tooling.
· Project Ownership: Lead assigned field project tasks independently, ensuring projects meet timeline and quality specifications.
· Operational Support: Perform additional field support duties and technical projects as directed by management.
2. Client & Account Management
· Position Statement: Oversee the end-to-end installation, commissioning, warranty, andpost-warranty service of regional clients' equipment to guarantee seamless client production operations.
· Service Feedback & Improvement: Submit detailed field service reports, analyse recurring failure patterns, and feed technical insights back to global manufacturing teams to improve product reliability.
· Control Systems Management: Take full ownership of on-site equipment control systems, software integration, and parameter optimisation.
· Client Training& Technical Advisory: Conduct technical consultation, basic operator training, and staff instruction for customer personnel while establishing deep customer satisfaction.
Qualifications &Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Industry Experience: Minimum 4–6 years of hands-on experience servicing or operating semiconductor front-end equipment (or high-tech capital machinery) inside wafer Fabs.
- Independent Capabilities: Proven track record of independently leading tool hook-ups, installations, startup checks, and component-level troubleshooting.
- Language: Proficiency in English and Chinese (spoken and written) is required to communicate and collaborate effectively with our diverse client base and stakeholders, as well as our regional counterparts.
Competencies & SoftSkills
· System Expertise: Deep domain expertise in at least one key semiconductor tool: Furnace, PVD, Dry Etch, or PECVD.
· Leadership& Coordination: Demonstrated ability to manage subcontractors and guide junior engineers on-site.
· Customer-Centric: Strong communication skills under pressure with the ability to build confidence with Fab managers and process engineers.
· Residency: Singaporean or Singapore Permanent Resident (PR) preferred.
