Lead/Senior Engineer, Piping

Position Overview

Lead/Senior Layout and Piping Engineer lead and controls Layout and Piping engineering activities mainly for Topside facilities in FPSO/FLNG or Offshore facilities. He/She develops corporate technical standards/procedures, workflow, engineering platform (e.g. Piping design data integration) and keep them updated, integral, practical and fit to purpose with incorporating Project Lessons Learnt.

Lead/Senior Layout and Piping Engineer assist Principal Engineer/Head of Discipline for managing a corporate organization and mentors Piping Engineers in the Discipline. He/She conducts technical validation and quality assurance (input/output data accuracy, technical appropriateness, consistency, practicality, code, optimum solution and regulatory compliance), provides technical advice or takes a lead as Project Discipline Lead - Topside Layout and Piping in executing Feasibility /Conceptual Study/Pre-FEED/FEED, EPCI Engineering for FPSO/FLNG or Offshore facilities projects.

Lead/Senior Layout and Piping Engineer shall be able to analyze to identify optimal solution and communicate these solutions through technical reports. This role may require travel to India/ Korea, and/or Europe/Latin America/West Africa.

The ideal candidate of the position will have a strong background in Offshore Oil & Gas Industry, be an expert in Topsides Layout and Piping Engineering, and provide strategic focus in the Topsides Layout and Piping Engineering for Conceptual/pre-FEED/FEED/EPC(I) projects of FPSO, FLNG or offshore facilities. The strategic focus will also include providing support to Hanwha Ocean engineering teams based at India/Korea/Singapore and elsewhere as necessary including Conceptual, pre-FEED and FEED for projects in the offshore area in the future.

Responsibilities

Corporate, General

- Develop Corporate Technical Standards and Procedures for Topside Layout and Piping.

- Develop Topside Engineering Workflow and Engineering Platform.

- Assist Head of Discipline to manage corporate organization.

- Update and Maintain FEED/EPCI and O & M Phase Lessons Learnt database.

Proposal/Pre-award Phase

- Conduct Conceptual/Feasibility Study to propose the optimum & competitive technical solution.

- Ensure all engineering documents are prepared and developed in accordance with relevant design code, standard and client’s project specification.

- Provide engineering expertise and support to form the optimum and competitive proposals

- Ensure Layout and Piping Layout are optimized, efficient, safe and environmentally compliant.

- Provide engineering review and support for bid proposal including estimate of manhour and cost.

Feasibility Study/Pre-FEED/FEED/EPCI Phase

- Take a Project Discipline Lead or Advisor role to manage projects.

- Become a focal point for Topside Layout and Piping Discipline in Project Team and Communicate with Clients.

- Raise Technical Queries towards the client's project documents, Design basis to ensure all scope of works and design basis are clarified.

- Manage interface with all relevant discipline to get necessary information for Layout and Piping engineering or to provide data to other discipline for their engineering.

- Manage Project Discipline Team (Topside Layout and Piping) - manning and schedule control.

- Mentor junior or less-experienced Layout and Piping engineers.

- Attend project meeting internally and externally (with clients, third party, sub-contractor) and generate MOM.

- Report Area of Concerns, Progress and Plan to Project management team and Corporate Head of Discipline.

- Ensure Compliance with regulatory requirements.

- Develop Project Design Philosophies, Standards, Procedure.

- Conduct feasibility studies, Pre-FEED, FEED, FEED Verification (Inception of EPCI Phase) and EPCI phase Engineering (Detailed Engineering).

- Develop Topside Layout and Project Specification including Piping Material Specification, Valve Material Specification, AVEVA E3D Library and 3DModeling Procedure etc. and Supervise Basic and Detailed Engineering Team.

- Develop Stress analysis, MTO and Material Purchase Specification for Bulk and Tagged Item Procurement.

- Participation in Various Workshop (3D Model Review, Technical Safety Study Assumption Register etc.).

- Provide Study Input data for Acoustic Induced Vibration Study/Flow Induced Vibration Study and technical safety studies (FRA, ERA, QRA etc.) and review the study reports.

- Close out comment/punches/recommendation from HAZOP, Vendor HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, Design Review and etc.

- Review Vendor Documents - Layout and Piping Deliverables such as GA, Layout, Data sheet etc.

- Manage 3rd Party work-scope and review/comment/approve of 3rd Party’s output - FIV/AIV.

- Supervise sub-contractor in view of design and deliverable quality and project schedule.

- Review sub-contractor's deliverables and Validate design and deliverable technical qualities.

- Implement Management of Change to ensure all design change to be incorporated in As-built.

- Provide engineering support for construction, commissioning and operation team.

- Provide engineering expertise for decision making to resolve Layout and Piping related issue.

- Ensure as-built Piping deliverables such as Topside Layout, Piping GA, Isometric, Piping support drawings.

Operation & Maintenance Phase

- Support Operation and Maintenance Team.

- Conduct Troubleshooting and provide optimum technical solution.

- Conduct Layout and Piping engineering in facility modification, revamp studies.

Requirements

- Minimum Bachelor Degree or Master's Degree in Mechanical and related Engineering.

- Minimum 10 to 15 years' experience & above in the offshore or onshore oil and gas industry.

- Minimum consecutive 7 to 10 years' experience at top-tier FPSO contractor or Offshore/Onshore EPC contractor (minimum 7 to 10 years' working experience in the same contractor).

- Minimum 1 FPSO EPCI Project experience from the beginning of project(engineering) until the sail-away to site or delivery of FPSO.

- 1 FPSO FEED/EPCI Project experience as a Project Lead - Topside Layout and Piping including Topsides Layout and Piping Conceptual / Feasibility Studies will be added advantage.

- Hands-on Layout and Piping engineering experience in FPSO or Offshore EPCI projects, especially Layout, Pipe Routing, Stress Analysis, Pipe Support Optimization, Material Specification, MTO and Bulk Procurement.

- Hands-on Field Engineering in Construction phase or Onshore/Offshore commissioning experience is value-added.

- Versed with Layout and Piping Engineering Tool such as AVEVA E3D, CESARII.

- Extensive knowledge of Layout and Piping engineering practices, principles, industry codes and standards - as well as an understanding of scientific methods of problem-solving.

- Very strong leadership skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with strong attention to detail and accuracy. ability to manage multiple priorities.
