The Assistant Manager, Engagement and Programme Development, is responsible for advancing chapter development, member engagement, stakeholder collaboration and the effective coordination of SASW Chapters, Interest Groups and the Training and Professional Development Standing Committee. The role involves planning and organising key SASW events and membership initiatives, facilitating engagement programmes and professional development projects, managing related communications, and providing secretariat support where required.

Critical Work Functions and Key Activities

1. Chapter Development and Governance

- Plan, execute, and monitor initiatives that strengthen the operations, governance and development of SASW Chapters and Interest Groups.

- Serve as the key liaison between SASW and its Chapters and Interest Groups to enhance collaboration, alignment and communication.

- Identify and drive opportunities for innovation, growth and professional development through chapter-based initiatives.

- Maintain up-to-date records of Chapter and Interest Group committees, members, workplans, budgets, and related documentation.

- Provide regular updates, reports and recommendations to management, relevant Sub-Committees and the SASW Executive Committee.

2. Member Engagement and Retention

- Develop and implement strategies to increase member engagement, participation, and retention through active Chapter and Interest Group involvement and membership initiatives.

- Support Chapters and Interest Groups in organising networking sessions, community-building activities and professional development initiatives.

- Align engagement initiatives with SASW’s mission to advance the social work profession and develop future thought leaders.

- Evaluate the effectiveness of member engagement efforts through feedback, participation data and other relevant insights.

- Recommend improvements to enhance member experience, strengthen professional identity and increase member value.

3. Programme, Project, Event Management and Communications

- Plan, organise and deliver key SASW events, membership events and other engagement programmes.

- Coordinate event and programme logistics, including timelines, venues, vendors, publicity, registration, attendance and post-event follow-up.

- Monitor event and programme budgets, track utilisation and recommend cost-saving measures where appropriate.

- Develop marketing collaterals and promote events, programmes and projects through appropriate communication and marketing channels.

4. Stakeholder Management and Secretariat Support

- Engage internal teams, members, Chapter leaders and external partners to build strong relationships and foster collaboration.

- Establish and maintain partnerships with external stakeholders to advance SASW’s mission, professional standing and strategic objectives.

- Provide secretariat support for SASW Chapters, Interest Groups, Committees and Sub-Committees where required, including meeting coordination, agenda preparation, minutes-taking and follow-up on action items.

- Support cross-functional coordination to ensure that stakeholder engagement, member engagement, programmes and chapter initiatives are aligned and effectively implemented.
