Position Overview

The Art Director is responsible for leading the visual expression of the company’s brand, campaigns, and intellectual properties, with a primary focus on the Singapore International Marathon and related initiatives.

This role combines creative ownership with hands-on execution, requiring an individual who can both conceptualise compelling campaign ideas and deliver high-quality finished artwork across a wide range of formats. The Art Director will play a key rolein shaping how the company and its properties show up visually across all mediums including digital, on-ground, and experiential touchpoints—ensuring consistency, distinctiveness, and cultural relevance.

Working within the Creative Department and collaborating closely with Marketing, Communications, Partnerships, Community, and Operations teams, the Art Director will translate strategic objectives into powerful visual narratives that resonate with both local and regional audiences. The ideal candidate brings a strong lifestyle design sensibility, an understanding of sports culture(particularly running), and the ability to craft visually impactful work from concept through to final execution.

Key Responsibilities

Creative Direction & Campaign Development

  • Conceptualise and develop integrated creative campaigns for SG International Marathon’ owned and licensed IPs.
  • Translate marketing and business objectives into compelling visual concepts and storytelling frameworks.
  • Define and evolve the visual identity and design language across campaigns and brand touchpoints.
  • Ensure all creative output is aligned with brand positioning, audience insights, and cultural context.

Design Execution & Finished Artwork

  • Lead the creation of high-quality finished artwork (FA) across all deliverables, including digital, print, environmental, and experiential formats.
  • Personally execute key design outputs where required, maintaining strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
  • Ensure all files are production-ready, adhering to technical specifications across different mediums.
  • Oversee the consistency and quality of all visual assets across platforms.
  • Brand guardian of the brand guidelines, including the design and oversight of all event-related collaterals, including but not limited to:

○ Race branding and identity systems

○ Event signage and wayfinding

○ Race bibs, medals, and merchandise

○ Digital assets (social, website, registration platforms)

○ On-ground experiential and environmental graphics

  • Work closely with Operations and Production teams to ensure feasibility and execution excellence across all physical outputs.

Creative Systems& Brand Governance

  • Develop and maintain brand guidelines and visual systems across all IPs
  • Ensure consistency in design execution across campaigns, channels, and projects
  • Establish workflows and standards to improve efficiency and quality of creative production.

Lifestyle & Cultural Design Integration

  • Bring a strong lifestyle-driven design perspective, ensuring the brand sits at the intersection of sports, culture, and community.
  • Incorporate contemporary design trends, cultural cues, and audience behaviours into creative outputs.
  • Ensure the brand resonates with both performance-driven athletes and lifestyle participants.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6–8 years of experience in creative/design roles, with at least 2–3 years in an Art Director or senior designer capacity.
  • Prior experience in a creative agency, branding studio, or in-house creative team.
  • Proven portfolio demonstrating conceptual campaign work and strong finished artwork execution.
  • Experience working on large-scale events, sports properties, or lifestyle brands is highly advantageous.
  • Experience handling end-to-end design production, from concept to final output across multiple formats.

Core Competencies

  • Strong conceptual thinking, with the ability to translate strategy into impactful visual ideas.
  • Exceptional design skills across typography, layout, colour, and composition.
  • High level of craftsmanship and attention to detail in finished artwork (FA).
  • Strong understanding of production processes, including print, environmental graphics, and digital formats.
  • Ability to balance creative ambition with practical execution constraints

Tools & Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Familiarity with motion/interactive tools (e.g. After Effects, Figma) is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of file preparation, pre-press requirements, and production specifications.
