Designation : Repair cum Soldering Technician
Working Hours & days : 9 am – 6 pm, Monday - Friday
Work Location : 280 Woodlands Industrial Park E5

MConnect provides diagnostics, repair and refurbishment services for transportation-grade electronic control units, passenger information systems, communication modules and bus electronic controllers across 5 major bus platforms.
Perform a variety of repair and technical tasks, including repair, modification, troubleshooting, testing, high-precision soldering, and rework of electronic components used in Automotive, to ensure repair shop quality standards and industry compliance are met. This role involves working on printed circuit boards (PCBs), including surface-mount technology (SMT), through-hole soldering, and fine-pitch hand soldering, while identifying soldering defects, troubleshooting issues, and carrying out necessary rework or repairs. This position requires a minimum of 1 years of IPC-certified soldering experience and a strong understanding of electronic components and repair processes.
- Perform the set-up, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies. Perform proper repairs and/or modifications of all Automotive electronics equipment and some test equipment at board level and component level.
- Perform on field test. Recognize failures and do a study on the electronic circuits.
- Position and align parts and components. Secure them in place or remove them using appropriate, various methods including soldering, crimping, fastening, gluing, etc.
- Test and troubleshoot complex analog and digital electronics systems to the component level. In other words, able to analyses both digital and analog electronic circuits .
- Assess the design configuration status of units under repair by referencing engineering documentation and maintenance manuals.
- Identify and navigate to appropriate electronic engineering and maintenance documentation to conduct repair actions and to record required information on all repairs and publication discrepancies.
- Perform various soldering techniques, including surface mount (SMT), through-hole, and hand-soldering
- Solder electronic components (resistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, etc.) onto printed circuit boards (PCBs).
- Use specialized equipment like soldering rework station, microscopes, and other tools as needed.
- Identify and troubleshoot soldering issues, including reworking and repairing faulty connections.
- Must have at least a Diploma or Higher Nitec in Engineering/ Electronics Technology/ Automotive or equivalent.
- This position requires at least 1 year of working experience in the related field.
- Preferably, those with working experience troubleshooting electronic products.
- ITE/IPC, or any relevant certification in soldering or electronics assembly will be preferred
- If have Motorbike License and Motorbike will be an advantage, with additional perks.
KEY KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to read and understand schematics and other technical publications in order to facilitate troubleshooting, repair, and testing of equipment.
- Understanding of electronic circuit design to facilitate fault isolation and troubleshooting.
- Ability to carry out tester set-up and calibration.
- Ability to operate real-time oscilloscopes, pulse generators, meters, power supplies, and special test fixtures..
- Ability to work on complex, miniature electromechanical devices using common hand tools; knowledge of using power tools.
- Excellent soldering techniques and an understanding of soldering techniques on surface mount technology where the acrylic conformal coating is used are required.
- Familiarity with IPC standards (e.g., IPC-A-610, J-STD-001) is preferred.
- Knowledge of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) handling procedures.
- Basic computer literacy for documentation
- To maintain a wide variety of automotive equipment, acquiring the know-how and mastering the skills and product knowledge is mandatory.
- Ability to communicate effectively across all functions and levels; Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both written and verbal.
- Great attention to detail, a critical thinker with good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, be assertive,self-driven, and able to work well in a team setting.
- Able to work effectively under challenging and tight timelines, well organized, and strategically prioritizes work to complete tasks on hand.
