Learning Outcomes

Technical Knowledge & Engineering Skills

• Gain fundamental understanding of LNG terminal operations, mechanical systems, and piping networks within a process plant environment.
• Develop basic competency in mechanical and piping design concepts, including line sizing, material selection, equipment layout, and piping components.
• Understand industry codes and standards relevant to LNG and process facilities (e.g., ASME, NFPA,API, ISO).

Engineering Practices & Tools

• Acquire hands-on exposure to engineering drawings such as P&IDs, piping isometrics, GA drawings, and equipment datasheets.
• Learn to use common engineering tools (Stress analysis, 3D modeling ) and software for document review, mark-ups, and basic calculations under supervision.
• Understand document control practices, including engineering deliverables, specifications, and technical queries.

Site & Safety Awareness

• Develop awareness of plant safety requirements, permit-to-work systems, and safe work practices in an LNG operating environment.
• Understand the importance of HAZID/HAZOP concepts, risk assessment, and safety compliance in mechanical engineering work.
• Gain exposure to site activities such as inspections, walkdowns, and maintenance coordination (where applicable).

Professional & Soft Skills

• Improve communication skills through interaction with engineers, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Learn to work in a team-based engineering environment, following instructions, meeting deadlines, and maintaining professionalism.
• Develop problem-solving skills by supporting engineers in resolving basic technical and site-related issues.

Overall Development

• Build a foundational understanding of the mechanical engineer’s role in LNG plant lifecycle, from design support to operations and maintenance.
• Prepare for future professional roles in mechanical or piping engineering within the oil, gas, and energy industry.

Requirements

• Undergraduate students currently enrolled in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent program from a reputable university.
• Positive and keen learner, with good communication skills.
• Students who can commit minimum 6 months, starting Jan 2027.
