Process Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain productivity, safety, and smooth operations of the Fused Silica Filler and Spherical Alumina manufacturing plants in compliance with local regulations, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, IATF 16949 standards, customer-specific requirements, and other applicable stakeholder requirements.
• Prepare, review, and revise Work Instructions (WI) to ensure all production activities are carried out in accordance with approved procedures and standards.
• Plan and coordinate operations and maintenance activities by liaising with internal stakeholders, other departments, and external vendors to resolve quality, safety, process, machinery, and IT infrastructure issues within plant areas.
• Assist the Department Leader in planning daily production activities, issuing routine instructions, scheduling preventive maintenance activities, coordinating plant start-up and shutdown activities.
• Assist the Department Leader in conducting daily plant inspections and troubleshooting facility-related issues.
• Retrieve and analyze production records and documentation to support quality troubleshooting related to Statistical Process Control (SPC), internal control limits, and specification abnormalities.
• Support the enhancement and improvement of plant in-process technologies.
• Assist the Department Leader in conducting in-process studies, experiments, product/material testing, and preparation of test data and reports when required.
• Assist the Department Leader in production scheduling to ensure delivery timelines, production quantities, and quality standards are achieved.
• Support raw material, utilities, and subsidiary material usage planning based on production schedules provided by the Sales Department, including daily usage coordination and monthly forecasting.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce production costs, enhance efficiency, and establish best practices for manufacturing processes.
• Conduct onboarding and basic operational training for newly hired production team members.
• Assist the Head of Production in maintaining compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, IATF 16949, and customer-specific requirements, including preparation and maintenance of departmental documentation such as:IATF 16949 Control PlanProcess FMEARisk Assessments
• Assist the Head of Production in preparing documentation and retrieving records for internal audits, certification body audits, regulatory audits, and customer audits, including manufacturing process audits outside normal working hours when required.
• Support the implementation and maintenance of corrective and preventive actions arising from internal or external audit findings, including preparation of abnormality reports and root cause analysis using problem-solving tools such as:Fishbone Diagram5 Why Analysis
• Perform internal audits for other departments in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IATF 16949 requirements.
• Obtain and maintain required safety-related qualifications to support Permit-To-Work (PTW) approval for non-routine activities when qualified production shift personnel are unavailable, including:WSQ Supervise Workplace Safety and Health in Process PlantWSQ Manage Work at HeightWSQ Supervise Safe Lifting OperationsWSQ Supervise Work in Confined Space OperationsWSQ Assess Confined Space for Safe Entry and Work
• Perform any other ad-hoc technical duties and responsibilities assigned by the Head of Production.

• Diploma from Singapore or Degree in Science/Engineering discipline from a recognized university in Malaysia.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of Office 365 and Microsoft Power Platform will be an added advantage.
• Good command of written and spoken English.
• Strong report writing and documentation skills.
• Physically fit and able to work in plant areas where wheelchair or lift access may not be available.
