The Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials is seeking to recruit a research fellow who will be responsible for the following:
- Simulation and experimental research into compressed moire systems
- Performing simulation
- Sample fabrication
- Atomic force microscopy (AFM) measurements
- PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline
- Strong knowledge of condensed matter physics, two-dimensional (2D) materials, moiré superlattices, or computational materials science is an advantage
- Experience with numerical simulations and computational modelling using programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or C/C++, and familiarity with scientific computing tools
- Experience operating and analysing data from AFM or other nanoscale characterization techniques
- Ability to analyse experimental and simulation data, troubleshoot technical issues, and interpret research findings
- Good scientific writing and communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports, publications, and presentations
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining laboratory safety and research integrity
