Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Marine Fuel Additive Technician / Fuel Doping Specialist to execute specialized chemical and dye dosing operations for marine fuels. You will need to manage fuel treatment operations onboard maritime vessels as well as at shore-based terminals and refineries. This role offers dynamic work environments and requires operational flexibility to match vessel schedules and blending timelines.

Key Responsibilities

Doping & Treatment Operations:

  • Perform accurate fuel additive and dye dosing on vessels, shore terminals, and refinery storage tanks.
  • Calculate required dosage based on fuel volume, density, temperature, and product specifications.
  • Safely setup, operate, and maintain chemical injection pumps and equipment.

Quality Assurance & Verification:

  • Draw fuel and additive samples before and after dosing to ensure product blend and quality compliance.
  • Working closely with marine surveyors, vessel crews, and terminal operators to verify dosages prior to treatment.

Operations & Field Coordination:

  • Board vessels (via gangway or launch boat) to coordinate directly with the Chief Officer and Master.
  • Work alongside terminal loadmasters and refinery operators during shore-side or in-line doping.
  • Maintain clear operational logs, dosing reports, and delivery documentation.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of practical experience in fuel treatment, marine fuel additives or refinery/terminal chemical injection.
  • Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of fuel properties, marine blending practices, and dosing methods (in-line injection, tank dosing, and recirculation).
  • Work Schedule Flexibility: Ability to work non-standard hours (including nights, weekends, and public holidays) driven by vessel arrival times and operational demands.
  • Physical & On-site Requirements: Able to work in outdoor and marine environments, board vessels via gangways or pilot ladders, and handle portable field equipment.
  • Safety Certification (Preferred): Possession of a valid Apply Workplace Safety and Health in Process Plant certificate (or equivalent) is an advantage.

Preferred Skills

  • Background or training in Marine Engineering, Petroleum/Chemical Technology, Maritime Logistics, or a related field.
  • Hands-on familiarity with air-driven diaphragm pumps and dosing rigs.
  • Strong communication skills and effective problem-solving under time-sensitive conditions.
