Marine Service Engineer

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with marine engines, auxiliary engines, steering systems, and various components.

• Perform repairs on inboard and outboard engines, specifically on fuel, cooling, and exhaust systems.

• Conduct routine maintenance to verify that all shipboard systems are functioning properly.

• Maintain cleanliness in the ship and engine room when onboard.

• Provide detailed reports on work conducted, clarifying the nature of repairs and services to clients.

• Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.

• Comply with environmental regulations related to marine services and repairs.

• Maintain accurate records of services performed, including time, parts used, and labour effort.

• Utilize service management software for logging and tracking repairs and maintenance tasks.

• Collaborate closely with other technicians and service team members to ensure efficient workflows and customer satisfaction.

• Assist in the training and mentoring of junior technicians as required.

• Undertake any additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in marine mechanics or a related field is preferred.

• Minimum 2 years of experience in marine service and repair.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving capability.

• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and marine service equipment.

• Knowledge of marine engines, auxiliary engines, and cargo pumps.

• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.

• Capability to lift heavy objects, work under varying weather conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks.
