Computer Software Engineer (Fresh Graduate)

Job Summary

We are seeking fresh graduates to join our Database & Storage Infrastructure team in Singapore as Computer Software Engineers. You will be trained and mentored to research, design, and develop software for our large-scale distributed database and storage platforms, growing into a core engineer on systems that serve business-critical workloads across regional markets.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, and develop computer and network software, and specialised utility programs, to manage large-scale distributed database and storage systems.
• Analyse user and system requirements, and develop software solutions by applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
• Update software, enhance existing software capabilities, and assist in developing and directing software testing and validation procedures for database and storage services.
• Work with computer hardware engineers to integrate hardware and software systems, and contribute to the development of specifications and performance requirements.
• Under the guidance of senior engineers, build tooling and automation for monitoring, capacity planning, backup, and incident response.
• Progressively participate in on-call rotations and production incident remediation after completing onboarding and training.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher (graduating class of 2026/2027) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Programming & Systems Analysis, Science (Computer Studies), or Software Engineering.
• Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, operating systems, computer networks (e.g., TCP/IP), databases, and computer architecture.
• Basic understanding of database and distributed systems concepts, such as indexing, transactions, ACID, MVCC, Raft, sharding, CAP theorem, and high availability.
• Proficient in at least one programming language such as Golang, Java, Python, or Rust.
• Ability to communicate in Mandarin and English, in order to support coordination and collaboration with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders, teams, and business partners across regional markets.
• Strong learning ability, ownership, and willingness to work on production infrastructure systems.

Preferred (Nice to Have)

• Familiarity with Unix/Linux operating systems and networking.
• Internship, coursework projects, or open-source contributions related to databases or storage systems (e.g., MySQL, Redis, MongoDB, HDFS, HBase, RocksDB).
• Competitive programming (ACM/ICPC) or systems-related research experience.
