Job Summary
The Demand Forecasting & Planning Executive is a newly created, data-driven role within the Supply Chain function, responsible for architecting and scaling the statistical demand forecasting function for the international business (AA, EMEA, APAC).
This role will design foundational baseline models, establish predictive data structures, and spear head forecast accuracy optimization. Operating at the intersection of data science and commercial execution, the ideal candidate is a hands-on analytical specialist comfortable building robust forecasting frameworks from scratch in an evolving environment, translating complex historical and market data into reliable, actionable demand signals.
Key Responsibilities
Statistical Forecasting & Predictive Modeling
- Model Architecture: Build, implement, and continuously refine statistical forecasting models and baseline demand frameworks utilizing historical trends, time-series analysis, and advanced Excel/BI tools.
- Demand Driver Integration: Quantify and incorporate volatile variables into baseline models, including promotional lifts, marketing campaigns, tender wins, New Product Introductions (NPI), and lifecycle transitions (phase-in/phase-out, EOL).
- Data Infrastructure: Establish and maintain high-integrity SKU master data and historical data structures to ensure the inputs for predictive modeling remain clean and reliable.
Analytics &Performance Optimization
- Variance & Bias Analysis: Systematically track, analyze, and report on forecast accuracy, bias, and variance metrics (e.g., MAPE, WAPE).
- Root-Cause Diagnostics: Conduct deep-dive root-cause analyses on significant forecast deviations, translating insights into model recalibrations and process improvements.
- Risk Mitigation: Run scenario analyses to identify structural gaps, potential supply shortages, or excess inventory risks, providing data-backed recommendations to the supply planning team.
Collaborative Intelligence & S&OP
- Commercial Calibration: Lead the quantitative consensus process with Sales and Marketing, cross-referencing statistical baseline forecasts with qualitative market intelligence and pipeline data.
- Signal Translation: Translate complex business plans and statistical outputs into clean, unconstrained demand signals for supply chain planning and execution.
Skills & Requirements
- Experience: 3–5 years of specialized experience in demand forecasting, statistical planning, or supply chain analytics within the FMCG sector (F&B industry experience is a distinct advantage).
- Technical Analytics: Strong capability in quantitative demand forecasting, with proven experience applying statistical concepts (e.g., moving averages, exponential smoothing, regression analysis) to real-world business data.
- Systems & Tools: Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (complex formulas, data modeling) and experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools. Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP preferred).
- Attributes: Strong sense of ownership with the mathematical rigor required to audit large data sets and build structured models independently in a fluid environment.
- Communication: Strong cross-functional collaboration skills; ability to communicate fluently in written and spoken Chinese to seamlessly exchange technical data and forecasting insights with HQ counterparts in China.
