Assistant Hardware Engineer (Mechanical)

The Role
As our Assistant Hardware Engineer, you’ll play a hands-on role in supporting the design, prototyping, and testing of hardware systems that power our advanced optical and authentication solutions. Working closely with the lead engineer, you’ll contribute to circuit design, hardware integration, to help ensure our technology is reliable, scalable, and ready for real-world deployment.
- Design, assemble, and test mechanical systems including structural components, housings, and precision interfaces for optoelectronic and instrumentation applications.
- Prototype and iterate rapidly using 3D printing, machining, and other fabrication methods to advance proof-of-concept builds.
- Work closely with optics, electronics, software, and chemistry teams to integrate mechanical elements into complete system architectures.
- Troubleshoot assemblies and contribute to performance optimization, tolerance analysis, and reliability improvements.
- Manage lab equipment, perform hands-on experiments, and prepare clear documentation including engineering drawings, BOMs, and assembly procedures for technical reviews.
Requirement
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; electronics experience a plus.
- Hands-on prototyping and fabrication experience (startup or R&D environment preferred), with working knowledge of CNC machining, sheet metal, and additive manufacturing.
- Proficient in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or equivalent) and comfortable with GD&T and manufacturing tolerances.
- Experienced in mechanical validation — dimensional inspection, load testing, and optical alignment.
- Thrives in fast-paced, interdisciplinary environments with a strong problem-solving mindset and passion for building hardware that bridges precision engineering and real-world applications.
