About the Opportunity

An established organisation within the insurance sector is seeking an experienced professional to take on a senior position within its motor claims and vehicle assessment function. This individual will play a key role in managing vehicle inspections, guiding claims evaluations, and strengthening operational standards across the motor claims landscape.

The ideal candidate will possess deep industry expertise gained through more than 15 years in motor assessment and claims-related operations, coupled with strong technical knowledge, leadership capability, and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Operational Oversight

  • Supervise and support a team of surveyors to ensure service quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide coaching, technical direction, and ongoing development to team members.
  • Plan manpower deployment effectively to support turnaround times and operational requirements.
  • Conduct performance discussions, identify training gaps, and implement capability-building initiatives.

Motor Claims Evaluation & Technical Assessment

  • Manage the full lifecycle of motor damage assessments from inspection through recommendation and resolution.
  • Review complex, disputed, or high-value assessment cases and provide technical guidance where necessary.
  • Advise on repair standards, costing, and claim recommendations to support fair and accurate settlements.
  • Ensure assessments are completed promptly and in accordance with company expectations.

Workshop & Partner Management

  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with workshops, repairers, and external service providers.
  • Evaluate vendor performance to ensure adherence to quality, turnaround time, and service benchmarks.
  • Participate in discussions relating to repair pricing, operational processes, and service agreements.
  • Address operational issues with vendors and drive continuous service improvements.

Process Enhancement & Service Excellence

  • Review current workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and customer experience.
  • Introduce process enhancements and operational best practices across claims assessment activities.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders including claims, underwriting, and customer support teams to improve coordination and issue resolution.
  • Support initiatives that enhance productivity and strengthen service delivery standards.

Governance, Compliance & Risk Controls

  • Ensure all assessment activities are aligned with regulatory guidelines and internal governance standards.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with fraudulent claims, repair inconsistencies, and operational lapses.
  • Conduct periodic reviews and audits on surveyor activities and vendor performance to maintain compliance standards.

Reporting & Business Insights

  • Prepare management reports covering operational metrics, claims trends, workshop performance, and productivity indicators.
  • Analyse claims and repair data to identify trends, operational gaps, and cost optimisation opportunities.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to support decision-making and business improvements.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Handle escalated or sensitive customer matters with professionalism and sound judgment.
  • Promote a service-oriented culture focused on timely resolution and positive customer outcomes.
  • Build strong working relationships with both internal departments and external business partners.

Requirements

  • At least 15 years of relevant experience within motor surveying, vehicle assessment, or motor claims operations.
  • Strong technical understanding of vehicle repairs, accident damage evaluation, and repair costing methodologies.
  • Good familiarity with claims management systems and related insurance technologies.
  • Sound knowledge of Singapore insurance regulations and market practices relating to motor claims.
  • Certification in Basic Insurance Concepts & Principles (BCP), Personal General Insurance (PGI), and Commercial General Insurance (ComGl) under the Singapore College of Insurance framework.
