Senior Engineer to Manager - Marine & Port Construction
PHOENIX RECRUITMENT PTE. LTD.
SENIOR ENGINEER TO MANAGER – MARINE & PORT CONSTRUCTION (REGIONAL)
x 7–8 positions available
Are you a hands-on construction professional who thrives on being in the field, driving projects forward where it matters most?
Do you want to work on landmark marine and port infrastructure projects across Southeast Asia and beyond, with a contractor who delivers at the highest level?
Our client is one of the region’s most established and respected marine and port contractors, with a strong portfolio of major projects spanning jetty construction, wharf upgrades, land reclamation, dredging, and offshore infrastructure. They are currently expanding their team of field engineers for ongoing and upcoming projects across Singapore, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and other regional postings.
ABOUT THE ROLE
These are site-based, hands-on engineering positions — not office-based design roles. You will be at the heart of day-to-day construction operations, translating technical drawings into real-world outcomes, managing teams on the ground, and ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and to specification. The successful candidates will operate at Senior Engineer to Site Manager level and be comfortable taking ownership of complex marine construction activities in challenging environments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee and manage day-to-day site construction activities for marine and port projects, including jetties, wharves, dolphins, reclamation works, and dredging operations
- Interpret and translate construction drawings, technical specifications, and engineering designs into clear, actionable site instructions for field teams
- Prepare and maintain construction programmes, method statements, risk assessments, and technical submittals
- Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, specialist trades, suppliers, and local labour to ensure works progress in accordance with programme and quality standards
- Monitor construction quality, carry out inspections, and ensure compliance with project specifications, ITP (Inspection and Test Plans), and applicable codes and standards
- Conduct regular site surveys and progress monitoring, updating records and reporting to the Project Manager on a daily and weekly basis
- Identify and proactively manage on-site technical issues, deviations, and NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports), implementing corrective actions as required
- Manage material deliveries, plant, and equipment on site, coordinating logistics to avoid programme delays
- Participate in project coordination meetings, technical reviews, and progress reporting with clients, consultants, and internal management teams
- Ensure all works are carried out in full compliance with HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) requirements, site rules, and project safety plans
- Prepare as-built records and contribute to project close-out documentation
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum 8 to 15 years of hands-on site construction experience, with a strong focus on marine, port, or coastal infrastructure (jetties, wharves, reclamation, dredging, offshore structures)
- Demonstrated experience managing subcontractors, suppliers, and multi-trade site teams in a field-based environment
- Solid understanding of marine construction methods, including piling, marine civil structures, dredging operations, and seabed preparation
- Ability to read, mark up, and issue construction drawings; proficiency in CAD software is essential
- Competent in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for programme tracking, reporting, and presentations
- Experience producing method statements, construction programmes, HSE documentation, and technical submittals
- Comfortable in overseas or regional postings, including potentially remote or developing-country environments
- Strong communicator with the ability to manage diverse site teams, local labour, and interface effectively with clients and consultants
- Self-motivated, solutions-focused, and able to operate independently in a fast-paced construction environment
COMPARABLE BACKGROUNDS WELCOMED
