Ass't Life Skills Trainer (Part-Time/Ad Hoc) - Life Skills Programme for Persons with Special Needs

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

Semper Crescis is dedicated to promoting life skills, independence, and well-being for children and adults with special needs. Through engaging and purposeful activities, we empower our clients to thrive and participate meaningfully in daily life.

ROLE OVERVIEW

As an Ass't Life Skills Trainer, you will deliver structured, activity-based programmes that support the development of functional life skills in persons with special needs. You will work closely with Life Skills Trainers and a multidisciplinary team (including parish volunteers) to provide personalised, compassionate, and engaging learning experiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate engaging activities across our programme areas: Health and Well-Being, Music and Movement, Gardening and Life Skills, Functional Academics, Arts and Crafts, Sports and Games, and Functional IT Skills.
  • Adapt strategies and activity plans to meet the individual needs, abilities, and goals of each participant.
  • Ensuring participants receive attentive and nurturing care.
  • Monitor and document client progress, behaviours, and milestones, reporting observations to the Life Skills Trainer as appropriate.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants at all times.
  • Collaborate with fellow trainers to propose new programme content and improve existing activities.
  • Adhere to organisational policies, safeguarding guidelines, and health and safety protocols.
  • NOTE: This role does not require you to communicate with caregivers. Caregiver update(s) and the incorporation of feedback into programme delivery will be conducted by the Life Skills Trainer.

REQUIREMENT

  • Persons with a magnanimous love for all the people of God, regardless of (dis)ability.

SUITABLE FOR (BUT NOT LIMITED TO)

  • Post-secondary students pursuing studies in education, psychology, social work, healthcare, or related fields, looking to gain hands-on experience working with special needs individuals.
  • Interns and fresh graduates seeking purposeful, real-world exposure in the social service or special education sector.
  • Career switchers exploring a transition into special needs support, social services, or community care.
  • Persons between jobs who wish to stay active, contribute meaningfully, and build relevant experience during their career break.
  • Freelancers and part-timers looking for a fulfilling weekend commitment that fits around existing work or personal schedules.
  • Semi-retirees and retirees with a passion for giving back and supporting the well-being of vulnerable communities.
  • Volunteers seeking a structured role who want to move beyond ad-hoc volunteering into a consistent, skill-based contribution.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Meaningful and rewarding work making a real difference in the lives of persons with special needs and their families.
  • Supportive team environment with qualified professionals trained in special needs support.
  • Opportunities for on-the-job training in the special needs sector.
  • Flexible weekend-based schedule suitable for individuals with weekday commitments.
