Bunker Trader

Our client is an established international trading and commodities business with a growing presence in the marine fuel sector. They are looking for a Bunker Trader to join their Singapore team and contribute to the development of their bunker trading business.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute physical bunker trading activities across assigned customers and markets
- Develop and maintain relationships with shipowners, operators, charterers, brokers and suppliers
- Source competitive bunker prices and negotiate commercial terms with suppliers and customers
- Monitor bunker prices, market movements, freight dynamics and relevant supply-demand developments
- Identify and pursue new trading opportunities to grow the customer and supplier network
- Manage the end-to-end trading process, from enquiry and quotation through to delivery and settlement
- Coordinate closely with operations, credit, finance and other internal stakeholders to ensure smooth execution
- Monitor trading positions, margins, credit exposure and counterparty risks
- Maintain accurate records of trades, pricing and customer activity
- Stay abreast of developments in the marine fuel and shipping markets and assess their potential commercial impact
Requirements
- 2–3 years of relevant experience in bunker trading, marine fuel trading, physical commodities trading, shipbroking or a related commercial shipping role
- Good understanding of the bunker / marine fuel market and shipping industry
- Strong commercial acumen with an interest in pricing, negotiation and market dynamics
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with customers and suppliers
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, commercially driven environment
- Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Analytical and detail-oriented, with good numerical ability
- Proactive, entrepreneurial and willing to take ownership of trading activities
- Diploma/degree in Shipping, Maritime Studies, Business, Finance, Economics or a related discipline would be advantageous
